Time Management Tips to attempt SBI PO Exam
In forthcoming SBI PO Prelims 2019, the time management and order of attempts will play pivotal role. The aspirants who will be appearing in this exam should understand its importance in its role play in qualifying this highly competitive exam. In this article, we will try to explain the importance of time management and order of attempts but before we will try to understand the exam pattern of SBI PO Prelims 2019.
SBI PO Preliminary exam 2019 is the first stage for the recruitment process and it will be conducted in online mode. This test is considered as qualifying examination and will comprise of 3 sections- English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. The candidates who qualify this exam will be eligible to appear in SBI Mains 2019 exam. In this exam, the candidates will be allotted a desktop where they will be first shown all the instructions and guidelines which are to be followed by them. The exam will be of 1 hour and will carry 100 marks for 100 questions. The candidates will get 20 minutes to attempt each sections, the details are given below:-

The candidates are advised to avoid guess-work in the exam. It is because there is negative marking for every wrong answer and one-fourth (0.25) marks will be deducted as penalty to arrive at the corrected score. If a student leaves a question blank then no marks will be deducted.
To qualify for SBI PO Mains 2019, candidates have to clear section as well as an overall cut-off of SBI PO Prelims 2019.
According to the exam pattern of SBI PO Prelims exam, the candidates will get three types of questions in each section of SBI PO Prelims 2019, and they are
- Easy
- Average
III. Difficult
In every section, every candidate is advised to first attempt easy question followed by average to difficult questions. You should not waste too much time on any one question. It will affect your final score and can ruin your prospects of selection. Therefore, you should not try to attempt all questions but attempt questions in which you are confident.
Now, let us discuss the strategy of the order of attempts to solve maximum questions with accuracy section-wise.
- English Language
It is the most scoring section and so we should solve questions with 100% accuracy. The candidates are advised to first solve questions based on Error Spotting, Cloze Test, Fillers & Reading and Antonyms & Synonyms of Reading Comprehension. You can now proceed to Reading Comprehension topic and other topics.
- Quantitative Aptitude
It is the most challenging section where accuracy matters the most. You are advised to proceed systematically and so we would advise you to first solve questions based on Simplification, Approximation, Quadratic Equations & afterwards questions of Data Interpretations. In the last minutes, you should try to solve questions on miscellaneous topic which are asked in short and simple language. If you have spare time then you can try to solve complicated questions but do avoid guess work.
- Reasoning Ability
In this section, candidate’s logical ability is tested. The candidates are advised to begin with questions based on Inequalities, Syllogism, Coding-Decoding, Blood Relation, and Direction & Distance. These topics should be given more importance as most questions from these topics are frequently asked in last few years. Thereafter, you should attempt questions based on Puzzles and Seating Arrangement. You should practice these questions very much as the language of these questions is bit tricky but they are very important from examination point of view.
